Welcome to the Pevensey and Westham School website

Pevensey & Westham CE School

Wednesday 13th Janaury 2010:

We will open at 10am today (Wednesday) due to the overnight snowfall causing road conditions to be very difficult. This will enable staff and pupils who can, to get to school safely. If it is too difficult for you to travel for your child to attend, the absences will be authorised.  Please pass this information on to other parents.  Thank you.

Should the adverse weather and temperature conditions return overnight any changes to the opening of the school will be notified on this website, on East Sussex County Council's School Closure site, and on the local radio stations.

You can recieve RSS or email alerts from East Sussex County Council's website regarding school closures.  Please visit the ESCC website's  school closures section for further details.

Welcome to Pevensey and Westham.

Pevensey and Westham School is a Church of England Controlled School, with approximately 400 children on roll between the ages of five and eleven.

The school has recently undergone a massive refurbishment, which has basically rebuilt the school from the bottom up. We now have a lovely, bright, modern building for our children with much more space than the old school.

The children are split up into four houses, the Vikings, Saxons, Romans and Normans. Good behaviour, work or effort is often rewarded with a house point, and at the end of each term the house with the most points is declared that term's champion.

Some children become monitors in the school, usually older junior children. This means they are given extra responsibilities, such as helping at lunch tables, taking younger children back to class after play and delivering registers to classes. This extra responsibility helps children to feel that they have an important part to play in helping the school to run smoothly.
The children are split into classes according to their age group, and each class has a classroom of its own. The classroom walls are usually covered in displays of pupils' work and other learning resources, which inspire children and encourages them to produce the best work they are capable of.
